What Is Jilungin?
Jilungin Bush Tea is made from the leaves, bark, and stem of the Terminalia canescens tree, a relative of the Kakadu plum. Terminalia canescens trees grow throughout the Dampier Peninsula and can grow up to 10 metres tall.
The leaves are harvested after the wet season. Once harvested, the leaves, stems, and bark are dried in the sun. By utilising the stems, leaves, and bark, the full nutritional power of the tree goes into Jilungin tea.
Where Is Jilungin Sourced From?
Jilungin is 100% wild-harvested from the Nyul Nyul community in the Dampier region of Northern Western Australia.
Working directly with the Nyul Nyul community to source Jilungin for our new Menopause Night Tea, along with our Native Relaxation Tea and Native Sleep Tea, is a true honour.
In this interview, we talk with Elder Bruno, an Indigenous grower from the Nyul Nyul community, about the sleep-inducing power of Jilungin. As a little boy, he remembers his grandmother giving him Jilungin tea to help him wind down and get a good night’s sleep. As he states, “The next day, you feel like a new person!”.

Brewing Guide
Traditionally, Jilungin Bush Tea has been enjoyed in the evening to promote deep, restful sleep.
To brew Loose Leaf Jilungin Tea:
- Add 1 heaped teaspoon to 500ml of boiling water in a teapot or infuser
- Steep for 10-15 minutes.
- Enjoy hot or chilled as a refreshing iced tea
To brew Tea Bags:
- Pour 250ml of boiling water over the teabag
- Steep for 6-8 minutes
- Enjoy it before bedtime.
