After the tumble we all took in 2020, it’s not surprising to see an increased focus on self-care and health. Whether you’re trying to shake off a few bad habits, get in better shape or simply feel healthier, you’re in the right place!
We’re all about positive change and we firmly believe it’s never too late to turn your life around by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Here are our top 5 tips to being healthier in 2021 and beyond!
1. Get movin’
There’s a reason why exercise is always the top tip when it comes to achieving better health. Our bodies are made to function better when we’re not moulding a dent in that comfy couch.
But we get it, going to the gym 4 times per week or getting up at 5 am to go for a run isn’t for everyone. So if you know you’re not a gym junkie type, you’re better off not forcing yourself and choosing an activity you enjoy instead.
Things as simple as walking the dog twice a day, walking to the shops or even taking care of the garden can make a big difference. Yes, it’s true you won’t burn hundreds of calories, but you’ll be more active overall and that’s always a great start.
2. Drink more tea
Staying hydrated has SO many benefits, like glowing skin, better digestion, more energy and even improved sleep quality.
Besides drinking water every day, we highly recommend you diversify your hydration options with caffeine-free teas. That way, you can incorporate a wide range of wholesome herbs into your diet and sip your way to better health.
Our teas are made with both medicinal herbs and Native Australian plants that have been traditionally used for their properties. If you want to add more tea to your daily water intake, make sure you check out our tea range!
3. Try intuitive eating
This is one of the buzz-worthy trends rapidly emerging in the healthy eating scene. And we LOVE it!
It’s a very common-sense approach to eating - all you need to do is listen to your body and consume healthy foods that fuel YOU. This means paying attention to how your body reacts to your diet.
For example, you might be trying to be vegan, but notice you feel much better on a vegetarian or pescetarian diet. Great! Unless you have very strict dietary requirements, you’re better off eliminating food-related stress from your life for good!
What we love about this trend is that it helps create a positive relationship with food and puts a stop to shame-based diet culture.
4. Rest is best
One of the most important healthy habits you can develop in 2021 is improved sleep. It might not be the easiest task, but with a little help from our sleep guide, you’ll get there.
We’d like to point out that resting is more than sleeping. If you’re in continuous overdrive and only give yourself a chance to recharge at night, your body won’t respond well.
So, by all means, in 2021 make it a point to take more breaks and more deep breaths! Try to incorporate a short meditation session in the morning or in the evening - it helps clean your mind and regulate your mood.
5. Tech boundaries
We’ve all been glued to our phones in 2020 and screen-fatigue is starting to get the best of us. It might seem like an innocent pastime, but blue light can seriously affect our eye health, mental health, sleep cycles, and more.
In 2021, let’s do our best to set some tech boundaries and reduce screen time, take social media detox days and engage in more tech-free activities.
These are the easiest steps you can take to be healthier and happier in 2021. And if you’d like to challenge yourself a bit more, make sure you try our Native Detox Challenge, it’s a great way to restore balance and feel light as a feather!
