Combatting Stress Starts From Within - Roogenic

Combatting Stress Starts From Within

A Guide to Native Stress-fighting Superfoods Stress is a natural reaction to life’s experiences and designed to protect you in times of crisis. But with a busy lifestyle, the little things like sitting in traffic, running late, or organising the family can cause build-ups of stress and when this happens day after day, it could put your health at serious risk. Health risks linked to stress include headaches, heartburn, depression, trouble sleeping, weak immune system, high blood sugar and high blood pressure increases the risk of a heart attack. But when you’ve been racing around trying to fulfil life’s little tasks and a co-worker pops over and says you look tired or you should “work on your breathing” it probably makes you cringe as you nod politely but know that life doesn’t stop for you to catch a breath. But there are some simple changes you can make that might ease stress and invigorate your health with the addition of some powerful bush foods. Stress can make it difficult for the mind to relax and fall asleep, leading to fatigue the next day that makes you less productive and can cause further stress. Getting a quality sleep should be highly valued as it impacts on your daily life. The Roogenic Native Relaxation Tea uses organic and wild-harvested ingredients from the Australian bush to bring you an authentic experience of Indigenous ‘dreaming tea’. It uses a combination of nine ingredients including five native bush plants crafted to achieve a more quality and consistent sleep. The native plants have been traditionally used by Indigenous Australians to relax the mind, calm the nervous system, and ease inflammation in joints and muscles. This can guide you into a deeper sleep, allowing you to wake up more revitalised and leave your stress in the past. Oxidative stress can also cause strain on the body and this occurs when you have an imbalance of free radicals which are highly volatile and can be harmful to the body. Antioxidants help to fight these free radicals and return balance. Aniseed Myrtle is a native Australian plant packed full of antioxidants, as well as containing lutein, folate, vitamin E and vitamin C, making it an exceptional superfood for protecting against oxidative stress! The leaf is in our Native Relaxation Tea and has an aniseed flavour and aroma, excellent for hot teas, iced tea (can be a healthy water alternative), and even experiment with dressings, bliss balls, or healthy breakfast biscuits. Diet has a proven link to stress and often creates cravings for high-sugar and fat, creating further stress and a vicious cycle. These unhealthy choices can create mood swings and fatigue making it more difficult to achieve daily tasks and increasing stress. But when the cravings hit, reach for a healthy option, and some Australian superfoods that can restore balance in your daily life. BUY NATIVE RELAXATION

Dance and Donations: Supporting CLCRF - Roogenic

Dance and Donations: Supporting CLCRF

Last week the Children’s Leukaemia and Cancer Research Foundation held a fundraising event that raised an amazing $16,000. Roogenic was a proud supporter of the ‘Dance for a Cure Quiz Night’ held in Perth on the June 8th 2018. This event is held twice annually and raises important funds that go towards the CLCRF and their life-saving research into childhood cancers. Australia has one of the highest incidences of childhood cancers but with this research and the amazing support of the Australian people, it is also one of medicine’s success stories. Roogenic donated large gift boxes to the foundation for the event auction and was honoured to be a part of this event. We are proud to be able to participate and join together with the WA community in support of this great cause. The CLRCF posted on their social media after the event, thanking those who contributed to the event. “So many wonderful people dug deep and made the night an event to remember,” it read. “Your donations helped us towards raising $16,000 for the super fun Quiz Night!” There will be another ‘Dance for a Cure Quiz Night’ held later this year and with further community support, hopefully we can continue to achieve greatness.

The Native Vitamin C Superfood to Get You Through Winter - Roogenic

The Native Vitamin C Superfood to Get You Throu...

With Winter already in full force it is easy to feel under the weather and be prone to the whims of cold and flu season. If you know this feeling, then you are probably also familiar with hearing a tirade of advice from everyone around you who all claim to have the solution. But instead of trying to gulp down synthetic supplements, eat a hundred oranges, or have enough garlic to ward off everyone in your workplace, here’s something easier to swallow. A unique superfood that is grown right here in our Australian outback may be the answer to your winter blues. The Gubinge, otherwise known as Kakadu Plum, has the highest recorded Vitamin C content of any plant in the world! This super fruit has been a staple bushfood for Indigenous people but it’s health benefits are fast becoming known in the health industry. With extremely high Vitamin C content and rich in antioxidants it can aid in boosting the immune system to help defend from cold and flu, as well as bonus benefits such as iron absorption, collagen formation and function of healthy skin and bones, plus fighting free radicals for cell protection. It’s easy to see why this humble plum grown in Western Australia’s Kimberley region is fast growing in popularity. Kimberley Wild Gubinge director Jacinta Monck told ABC News, “We're getting through a lot more fruit processing than we did, double the amount in previous years.” Here at Roogenic, we take huge pride in sustainably sourcing our organic superfoods from across Australia, ensuring we support small farmers and nurture Indigenous communities. We specialise in making healthy teas and cooking spices, and Roogenic director Oren Barak is passionate about sharing the traditional uses of these plants from Indigenous people that have been utilising them for thousands of years. “We are excited to provide an opportunity for everyone to benefit from the power of the plants that grow in our outback and provide a taste of Australia’s unique food culture.” And if you’re wondering how to reap the rewards of this superfood, the Gubinge is available as a powder making it easy to sprinkle on your breakfast, slip into a smoothie, or just mix into a glass of water. There are many easy ways to work it into your daily routine for a natural health boost while supporting Australia’s native food industry. BUY KAKADU PLUM
