What Your Stool Says About Your Gut Health (Types of Stool) - Roogenic

What Your Stool Says About Your Gut Health (Typ...

Are you overlooking one of the best clues to the quality of your digestive and gut health? The characteristics of your stool can provide valuable insights into your overall wellbeing.  While occasional variations are normal, consistent changes in stool colour, consistency, or frequency may be indicative of underlying health issues. Use this chart to self-assess the quality of your stool: Our Top Tips for Healthier Poo: Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Proper hydration helps soften the stool, making it easier to pass. Fibre-Rich Diet: Include high-fibre foods in your diet, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Fibre adds bulk to the stool and promotes regular bowel movements. Regular Mealtime: Try to eat meals at regular times each day. This can help regulate your digestive system and promote consistent bowel habits. Exercise Regularly: Physical activity stimulates bowel movements and helps maintain a healthy digestive system. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. Don't Ignore the Urge: When you feel the urge to have a bowel movement, don't delay. Ignoring the urge can lead to constipation. Probiotics: Consider incorporating probiotics into your diet. These can help maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria, which is important for digestion. Limit Processed Foods: Processed and refined foods may contribute to constipation. Opt for whole, nutrient-dense foods instead. Limit Caffeine and Alcohol: Both caffeine and alcohol can contribute to dehydration, which may lead to constipation. Consume them in moderation and ensure you're balancing their effects with adequate water intake. Establish a Routine: Try to have a regular daily routine, especially regarding meals and sleep. Your body often responds well to consistency. Mindful Eating: Take your time when eating, and chew your food thoroughly. This aids in digestion and nutrient absorption. Manage Stress: Chronic stress can affect your digestive system. Practice stress-reducing techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or yoga. While observing your stool can provide clues, it's important to note that other symptoms, such as abdominal pain, unintended weight loss, or persistent changes, should prompt a visit to a healthcare professional. They can conduct a thorough evaluation and, if necessary, order tests to determine the cause of any abnormalities. Always consult with a healthcare provider for personalised advice based on your specific situation.

Gut Health Self-Assessment - Roogenic

Gut Health Self-Assessment

Your gut impacts every cell and organ in your body from your skin to your heart, brain and bones through a variety of ways. It impacts every single cell in your body because it absorbs all the nutrients your body needs to keep you functioning. These nutrients are the essential building blocks your body needs to create blood cells, energy and hormones and keep your heart beating and your brain working. Your gut also keeps your entire body in balance because it chooses what to reabsorb in order to keep your body functioning and eliminating waste. Your gut will reabsorb hormones, nutrients, certain molecules and even water to keep your body balanced and your organs and bones healthy and working optimally. It also houses 80% of your immune system so it plays a big role in determining if you’ll get sick and the level of inflammation in your body. Meanwhile, your gut microbiome has just as big of an impact because it influences your brain’s neurotransmitters as well as your mood, inflammation, liver, heart health and more. While self-assessment cannot replace a professional medical evaluation, there are some signs and symptoms you can pay attention to that may provide insights into the health of your gut. If you're concerned about your digestive health, take our 10-step gut health self-assessment: 1. Regular Bowel MovementsNormal bowel movements vary among individuals, but regularity is key. Pay attention to any changes in frequency, consistency, or difficulty. One 2018 study published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology found that anywhere from three times per day to three times per week can be an indicator of good health.2. Stool CharacteristicsObserve the colour, consistency, and shape of your stools. Normal stools are usually brown, well-formed, and easy to pass. Changes in colour or consistency may indicate underlying issues. Want to learn more? Take our stool self-assessment here.3. Digestive ComfortFeeling digestive discomfort? Feeling bloated or gassy after eating? Some digestive discomfort is normal from time to time, but persistent digestive discomfort may warrant further investigation with a health professional.4. HydrationAdequate water intake is crucial for digestive health. Ensure you are staying hydrated to support normal bowel function.5. Food SensitivitiesNotice how your body responds to different foods. If you consistently experience discomfort or other symptoms after consuming certain foods, you may have sensitivities or intolerances.6. Energy LevelsGut health can influence overall energy levels. Chronic fatigue or a lack of energy could be linked to digestive issues.7. Mood and Mental Well-beingThe gut-brain connection is well-established. Notice if your mood, stress levels, or mental well-being are influenced by changes in your digestive health.8. Skin HealthSkin conditions, such as acne, eczema, or unexplained rashes, may be related to gut health. The skin is often reflective of overall well-being.9. Immune FunctionA significant portion of the immune system resides in the gut. Frequent illnesses or infections may indicate a compromised immune system, possibly related to gut health.10. Fermented & FibrousIncorporate fermented foods such as yoghurt, kefir, sauerkraut and fibrous foods such as fruit, vegetables and legumes into your diet. Generally, men should strive for 30g of fibre per day and women should strive for 25g of fibre per day. These can contribute to the overall quality of your gut health. Remember, your gut health is not a fixed environment, meaning it can improve at any time. It's important to note that these signs are general indicators, and individual responses may vary. If you have persistent or severe symptoms, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional. They can conduct a thorough evaluation, order necessary tests, and provide personalised advice based on your specific health situation. Regular check-ups and discussions with your healthcare provider are crucial for maintaining overall health, including digestive health.

Best Ingredients for Sleep - Roogenic

Best Ingredients for Sleep

It goes without saying that sleep is an essential function for the human body. Without it, our body’s systems can be thrown off balance, manifesting into more stress, less productivity, increased overwhelm and an overall sense of dissatisfaction. Fortunately, there are natural herbs, vitamins and minerals that can support a deeper sleep in a matter of days: Best Natural Ingredients for Sleep  Vitamin B6 Vitamin B6 is used in the production of both, the sleep promoting hormone melatonin and the main inhibitory and calming neurotransmitter gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA). References: (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 191, 192)  Magnesium Magnesium is an important anti-stress mineral and can improve sleep by encouraging relaxation. It can improve melatonin levels and protects the body from the negative impacts of stress.  References: (7, 8, 9, 10, 11). Prebiotics Sprouted fermented greens, inulin, green banana resistant starch, and purple cabbage; prebiotic rich food. Prebiotic fibers and resistant starch feed gut bacteria and are slowly fermented by these bacteria in the colon to produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs).  SCFAs play an important role in gut health, immune health and based on preclinical research they could also have the potential to improve stress-resilience and sleep. References: (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20) Passionflower Passionflower is a popular herb for anxiety and nervousness and has shown positive results regarding anxiety and subjective sleep quality. Traditionally, passionflower was used as a herbal sedative, anti-anxiety and sleep remedy for insomnia and other sleep disorders.  References: (21, 22, 23, 24, 193, 194) Magnolia Magnolia contains Magnolol and honokiol. It has been reported that these bioactive plant-nutrients have anti-stress, anti-anxiety, anti-depressant, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Traditionally, magnolia was used to treat anxiety, asthma, depression, gastrointestinal imbalances, headaches, and other ailments. References: (25, 26, 27, 28) Lemon Balm Lemon balm is often used as a mild sedative and has been found to improve anxiety and sleep quality. Traditionally, lemon balm was used to alleviate stress and anxiety, improve sleep, and treat digestive complaints. References: (29, 30, 31, 32, 33) L-Glutamine Glutamine and Vitamin B6 can be used by the body to make GABA. Glutamine also supports the gut microbiome, mucosal wall integrity, and modulates inflammation to improve gut health. It also plays a neuroprotective role by increasing activity of GABA receptors and antioxidant enzymes. References: (39, 40, 41, 42) Glycine The amino acid glycine has been found in research to improve sleep quality.  A reduction in core body temperature is associated with sleep onset. 2023 Equity Crowdfunding FAQs - Roogenic

2023 Equity Crowdfunding FAQs

We’re so excited to announce that we’re officially launching another round of Equity Crowdfunding! What started as a small stall at the Fremantle Markets in WA has transformed into a national health and wellness company with an amazing customer base (you!).  Now, we’re on a mission to share the medicinal properties of Australian bushfoods with the rest of the world. That’s why we’ve decided to invite our customers to become a part-owner of our growing company! We know that Equity Crowdfunding can be complicated to wrap your head around, so we’ve summarised the most important parts for you:   Equity Crowdfunding allows you to invest in the brands that you love and become a part-owner.   Birchal is one of the biggest licensed Equity Crowdfunding platforms in Australia. It supports growing Australian businesses and connects them to potential investors (like you) all while facilitating the process.  An Equity Crowdfunding campaign is made up of two stages: Expression of Interest (EOI) and Share Offer.   Expression of Interest allows you to get early access to our offer before the public. There is no financial commitment at this stage — it just lets us know that you’re interested. If you haven’t completed your Expression of Interest yet, you can do so here. This will give you access to need-to-know information about us, our financial statements, investor perks and more.   Our Share Offer is when you can officially purchase shares! You’ll receive two important documents: our Offer Document and our Company Constitution. These documents contain all the information you need to know to make an educated investment decision. After you review this information, you have the ability to purchase Roogenic shares and become a part-owner.  Our mission is to bring Australian bushfoods to the international market. Capital raised will go towards: Creating and releasing new innovative products Partnering with new Indigenous growers Partnering with international distributors to take our products global   You’ll receive shares in our company, making you a part-owner.   You can become a part-owner of this rapidly growing company for as little as $250!    Always consider the general CSF risk warning and offer document before investing. The full offer document will be available just prior to the offer campaign which is set to open on 18th of April 2023. Express your interest to invest in Roogenic, and you can request to see the offer document prior to the public release date.  During our Offer Campaign (where you can invest), Birchal holds all investor funds in a trust account until our capital raise is successful and passes the closing date. From there, your shares will be issued, and Birchal will transfer the money to us to use in our future business plans which are outlined in the Offer Document.   An Equity Crowdfunding investment is like planting a Eucalyptus tree in that it’s a medium-term to long-term commitment. Shares in the companies who raise through Birchal cannot be easily transferred or sold as they are not traded through public exchanges (i.e. the ASX). Due to this, your shares are generally considered to be 'illiquid' so you may not be able to sell your shares quickly if you need the money or decide that this investment is not right for you.   However, there are numerous possible circumstances that may create an opportunity for you to "exit" your investment (i.e. sell your shares) or otherwise receive returns. Such as: a trade sale of the company to another company the company proceeds with an Initial Public Offering (IPO) and listing on a registered stock exchange (e.g. the ASX) the company organises a buyback of the shares a private sale of your shares to another person the company pays shareholder dividends.  The options available to shareholders will be mentioned in our company Offer Document at the time of investment, but we can’t guarantee that any of the above options will occur. Our hope is that our company value will have increased in the event of an ‘exit’, so when that time comes hopefully your shares will have gone up in value!   You may lose your entire investment, and you should be in a position to bear this risk without undue hardship. Even if the company is successful, the value of your investment and any return on the investment could be reduced if the company issues more shares. Ask questions, read all information given carefully, and seek independent financial advice before committing yourself to any investment.  You can invest as an individual, trust or company (including SMSF)   Crowdsourced Equity Funding (also known as Equity Crowdfunding) is governed by legislation that is covered by ASIC (RG 261) and can only be facilitated through licensed intermediaries (ie. birchal.com).   The normal rules apply to your investment in a company via CSF when it comes to tax-time, and we recommend investors consult with an accountant depending on their unique circumstances. If the company on Birchal offering the shares is an E.S.I.C (early stage innovation company), there may be tax incentives for you as an investor.
